| Title | Joining Kitchen Worktops - How to Choose a Good Kitchen Fitter (7 Sneaky Questions) |
| Category | Kitchen Appliances |
| Article |
The first place to look when choosing a kitchen fitter is with family or friends who may have had a kitchen installed recently. You can ask their opinion of the person as a whole, not just on how good a job they did. For example: Do they turn up when they say they will? Are they presented nicely and look like they mean business or do they look like Jack The Lad who does not take their job and your £800 kitchen seriously? Do they have public liability insurance in case they damage your home in any way? A good rule of thumb is if they turn up in a good, clean van, possibly sign written, and a good selection of tools then this is a good start. These are the things you can ask your friends before asking them to quote to install your kitchen. Also ask if they are well mannered in your home. Do they have music blaring? Do they smoke? If they do, do they go outside or have a crafty one inside? Can you trust them in your home on their own if you have to pop out to get shopping or pick the children up from school? Do they clean up at the end of each day? Do they work in clutter or are they tidy? A tidy workplace means an uncluttered, clear thinking worker - and that's what you want in a kitchen fitter. When the kitchen fitters come to quote you, ask for references or testimonials from happy customers who you can talk to. Then phone or even ask if you can see their work if you're really concerned. You can ask if they do the butt and scribe kitchen worktop joint even if your worktops are granite and you don't need joints doing, as it gives a good indication of the capabilities of the fitters. Of course if you do not want to pay to hire the services of a Kitchen Fitter you need to choose a good Kitchen Fitting Guide, ideally with Kitchen Worktop Instructional Videos to take you through the whole process of fitting your kitchen to avoid any costly mistakes. :-) Ray Brock "The Seasoned Kitchen Fitter" |
